3 Ways to Celebrate the Arrival of Autumn

Today is the Autumnal Equinox - equal day and equal night - and the official first day of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

It's a time of harvest - both physical and spiritually - as we approach the end of the growing season.  And as the bright, hot days of Summer are now behind us and the dark, cold days of Fall and Winter are ahead of us, it's a turning point to reflect and take stock of what we've achieved, what we've overcome, what we've learned and what we've created in our lives since the beginning of Spring. To celebrate how we’ve grown, how we’ve thrived and how we’ve used our growth and abundance to contribute positively to our world.

For many, this shift in seasons is just another day of the week. But to behold this transition as a sacred event that can unlock beautiful new beginnings and bring newfound balance, clarity and purpose to your life? To enter a brand new season in your life? This awareness can free you from the mundane and the autopilot default to raise your consciousness up towards the mystical and marvelous where you can truly receive the blessings of this transformative time!

Here are just THREE ways that you can celebrate the Autumnal Equinox and the energetic shift into the new season in your life:

  1. Get out in Nature.

And I invite you to not just observe Nature as something outside of you or separate from you.  But rather as as something that's a part of you as you are a part of it.  To really connect and commune with Nature and to feel the elements of Earth, Water, Air and Fire within you.  To present yourself as One with Nature.

This can help you to feel more in tune with the seasonal shift and the eternal cycle of life.

2. Create a Gratitude List.

For what are you grateful for?  Ask yourself this question and let yourself write down the answers.  And when you begin to feel the answers slowing down, ask yourself again.  It's easy to consider being grateful for what we already have or the things that appear positive or good in our lives.  But have you ever considered feeling grateful for the challenges and hardships in life and the good that can come of it? Or what you hope to receive and experience in the future?  To be grateful in advance?

Creating this Gratitude List will shift your focus more towards positivity and abundance in your life moving forward.

3. Have a potluck celebration with friends, family, neighbors and loved ones.

Back in the day, harvests would be shared amongst the community around the Autumnal Equinox and people would gather together to light bonfires, to contribute a portion of their harvests, and to celebrate outdoors well into the night.  And we can continue that tradition today!  Feature seasonal vegetables, fruits, spices and recipes - even better if you've grown the food yourself or the recipes are cherished family recipes passed down through the generations.

Highlight togetherness, games and activities, and sharing stories that warm the heart and bring smiles and laughter to everyone.

These are just three suggestions for celebrating the arrival of Autumn - there are so many ways to do it. And while you can certainly do all 3 these suggestions on the Autumnal Equinox or this weekend, why not continue doing these things over the entire Fall season?  To further nurture and bring value to your relationship with Nature, Gratitude and Community? To honor and focus upon the Blessings of Life?

Again, a Blessed Autumnal Equinox to you and yours.  Thank You for being a part of my journey here on Earth and for the opportunity to be a part of yours. And if you have any questions about further ways to bring light and joy to your journey as an eternal, spiritual being living a brief physical life, please let me know!
