The First Full Moon of 2021

Thursday, January 28th marks the unveiling of the first Full Moon of 2021.  Residing in the sign of Leo, this Moon sets the tone for how we will step forward and lead in this New Year.

Leading others, perhaps, but most importantly, how we will lead ourselves.

*Disclaimer: I am not an astrologer. I simply love the stars, the planets, the Moon, and the cosmos. So take my lunar musings for what they are: an expression of my galactic admiration and gratitude for my Universal connection.

With every Full Moon, there is an opportunity to step into something greater.  A teacher once likened it to a door that we get to pass through every month:  A door that leads to rebirth and renewal.  And as is the cycle of life, there cannot be rebirth without death.  So with every Full Moon week (3 days before the Full Moon and 3 days after), we can choose to tap into the creative magick of the Moon as it pulls the depths of our subconscious to the surface, empowering us to shed the shackles of doubt, fear, and shame and manifest brand new beginnings!

With this particular Full Moon in the fiery sign of Leo, there is an initiating energy penetrating into our lives - an energy that demands change.  Which can be unsettling, to put it mildly.  But as opinions, beliefs, and paradigms are upset, foundations are rattled, and comfort zones are challenged, a vacuum is created for new potentials to rise in your awareness.  And it is this expansive, unlimiting energy that you will benefit from paying attention to, as opposed to the energetic drain of focusing on self-pity and resisting what is being brought to light.

These are the gifts of the Moon!  So my encouragement is to accept the gifts and guidance with grace and gratitude and to honor the opportunity to make new choices that will free you to move onwards and upwards, breaking the cycles of feeling stuck and lost.

For example, with situations and relationship dynamics that repeat over and over again in your life, taking this time to self-reflect.  Instead of pointing fingers, throwing tantrums, and looking outside yourself for the answers and reasons why, focusing the energy on you: the common denominator.

What is the perspective you’ve never seen?

What is the choice you’ve never thought to make?

What is your role in creating these cycles and outcomes?

The Full Moon amplifies our ability to self-reflect and witness our reflection in others.  So digging deeper past the surface of what you know you know and being open to seeing what you don’t know that you don’t know.  And with that, being willing to be wrong, not as a self-punishment, but as an acknowledgment that allows you to course correct.  To change your life and to break cycles that have followed you all your life (and perhaps have followed your ancestors as well) once and for all.

Now why on Earth would you want to do that?

Because there’s a bigger picture.

Even bigger.  A picture that reveals that your individual choices make a collective difference for all of us.  A difference for all those living now, and all those who are yet to come.

In 2021, as the New Paradigm of Divine Union starts to physically anchor on Earth, our work will be seeking connection, affirming oneness, and banishing the illusions of separation that drive us apart.

The illusion that your actions and choices don’t impact anyone else’s life.  That illusion that your thoughts and emotions are somehow exempt from the collective consciousness.  The illusion that your life’s meaning is only about now and not about the lasting, positive difference that you can make for generations to come.

And that is what I mean about self-leadership.  A leader must be able to see the bigger picture clearly, to know what serves the Highest Good of All, and to prioritize keeping that awareness pure and in focus to guide their actions.  And how do they do that?  By consistently embracing more Light into their lives, and directing that Light into the darkness to ignite learning, understanding, and the manifestation of transformative wisdom.

And from self-leadership and self-mastery, leadership of others then becomes possible.  Leading by example and walking the walk.   Shining the Light that guides you to pay it forward and serve others to have more joy, peace, and love in their lives, whatever that means. And this Full Moon in Leo will help all of us to do that - to lead ourselves no longer by the narrow, exclusive, selfish perspective but rather by a wider, more inclusive, and selfless view of life. But it is up to each of us if we’re willing to receive the guidance, as unsettling and confronting as it may be.  If you’re willing to sacrifice what blinds you and binds you  from moving your own life forward and connecting more meaningfully with yourself and others.  If you’re ready to make new choices that lift you up instead of bringing you down.

So on this first Full Moon, I invite you to see what’s risen to the surface.  To take this initiating energy and applying it to your life to spark clarity, healing, and momentum to get outside the box.  To overcome expectations.  To obliterate blocks.  To make the impossible possible.

And to lead your life in a brand new direction that frees you to be a beacon of Hope, perhaps for others, but most importantly, for yourself.
